One Month: Hallie Grace Hillam

We celebrated Hallie's one month birthday on Monday, August 25th. We can hardly believe that this little sweetheart has only been here with us for one month. I already can't remember life without her. It's like she's been here this whole time.

Needless to say, we are smitten with this little sweetheart.
She cracks us up daily, we can't get enough of her and love seeing her little personality shine through.

Here are somethings that we've discovered about our cute girl in this past month.

-She's an overachiever: But really, what baby comes exactly on their due date, at a time that was beyond perfectly perfect for her parents. (We completely finished our finals/white glove checkouts 20 minutes before we went to the Dr.'s office and were admitted to the hospital). Eric can't thank her enough for NOT coming early, and I would have died if she came one day later (note: not literal death).

-She is vocal: This girl must love the sound of her voice, because she is constantly making noises! She smacks her lips and gulps loudly and hums while she's eating. She grunts and groans and squeals while she's passing gas. The cutest however, is how she sings and hums all night long while she's sleeping. I first noticed it on the night we brought her home from the hospital. She hums all night long. My heart just melts!

-She is an eater: We've been shocked at how much food this girl can put down. She exceeds what the books/articles/statistics tell us that she's supposed to eat... by a lot. Her pediatrician was pleasantly surprised with how quickly she gained back her birth weight.

- She loves her hands: Her tiny little hands are always on the move or frozen in some awkward position (usually next to her face). In preparation for our little baby, we had read about how babies looove to be swaddled. We learned how to properly swaddle a baby and had purchased several swaddle blankets. Those lasted ... oh maybe a week. As soon as she discovered how much she loved her hands, she was adamant that they be kept near her face at all times. They were not to be wrapped snugly and tight against her body. Hallie doesn't get mad very often... so we knew right away when she was unhappy with her swaddle. We started swaddling her with one am out, and that was sufficient for a few days... but from now on it's "Two arms out, or no one is getting sleep tonight".

Speaking of sleep, Hallie has been an awesome sleeper since day one. She gives us at least one good 6 hour stretch at night, and more often than not, she'll sleep a solid 8 hours. It's bliss. Now if we can only discipline ourselves to go to bed at the same time as her, our lives would be perfect.

Oh how we adore our little Hallie Grace.
